Hand-selected wines for you
Mitch and Stephanie pick the bottles for each evening themselves, from four decades of tasting, importing and selling wine in New Jersey and now Sarasota. You get a focused lineup worth drinking, rather than a menu of everything on the shelf.
Personally hosted experiences
One of the family hosts every tasting, introduces each wine in plain English and takes questions as they come. Prefer to just listen and drink? That’s fine. Nobody’s put on the spot, and nobody asks you to describe what you’re tasting (unless you want us to).

Fun little venue that features wine tasting. We attended a South African tasting of three whites and three reds. My favorite was their Sauvignon Blanc which had an amazing nose and exceptional taste. During the tasting, light refreshments were served. The shrimp were excellent. You have an opportunity to purchase at the end of the evening. Stop by and say Hi to Mitch.

The Family Behind The Bar…
Mitch, Stephanie, & four decades of wine
Sopranos is run by founder Mitch Soffer and his daughter Stephanie. The family is New Jersey-raised: 25 years in New Jersey wine retail and wholesale, then 20 more in Sarasota’s wine business. Edible Sarasota profiled the pair in 2023 and described a room built around fun, socialising and learning without pretension. That is still the brief today, and it is why the same guests keep coming back.
